Enterprise Rental Car: Epic FAIL x2!

Enterprise Rental Car FAIL/WARNING!

Some of you may remember the fiasco I had with Enterprise Rental Cars last year. We’d booked the car over a month in advance, I called to verify 24 hrs prior, my reservation was in the system arrived and was denied the rental.

Mind you, we were already in the system as we’ve rented from Enterprise in the past. But I hadn’t been told that if I didn’t use my credit card (which I could have done and earned 5% cash back) that I’d have to bring, A) Gas Bill, B) Cable Bill, C) Cell Phone Bill, D) Electric Bill.

  1. A) We are an ALL electric house. No gas bill. B)We are streamers with ROKU so no cable bill. C) We are Straight Talk and Verizon Pre-Pay Customers D) While I DID show an electric bill (via my cell phone so limited bill visibility, we were belittled that we were “seriously delinquent.”

No. We were not.

We have a City Loan for replacing our roof to a more energy efficient metal roof. You can’t qualify for a city loan with electric delinquency. We are also POOL owners. Between the roof loan (an additional amount on our bill) AND a pool pump/water running, our bills run high. They also include, garbage service, storm water run-off, water and firefighter fee’s.

ONE bill in the summer (during which time the rental was for) was $650.00. Not delinquent, just HIGH bills due to the above reasons.

COMMON SENSE: I offered to bring the bill back so the agent could SEE the actual bill and not just the amount. I also offered to BRING our mortgage statement reflecting we are 20 year home owners.

AGAIN- The agent said no, indicted we were delinquent in our bills and Enterprise would not rent to people like us.

Home owners, perfect driving records, past Enterprise clients and denied and belittled. I made a few quick calls and BUDGET RENTAL had me on the road within 45 minutes!!!! (We’ve also rented from Budget before with NO ISSUES EVER, but when I’d called price-checking, Enterprise had come in lower)

THANK YOU BUDGET!!! Also, noteworthy, the trip was to meet my biological grandmother and also introduce her to my children. Thanks to Budget the trip wasn’t cancelled and sadly, my grandmother was right. Time was ticking, as she passed away a little over a week ago.

  ***   THIS YEAR!  ***

I notified Enterprise of what had happened. After about a week of repeating what happened to different agents, I spoke with the local GM who apologized profusely, SWORE this wasn’t the Enterprise way, and offered me a FREE 3-Day rental, for my next need. (This part took place after last years fiasco)

The last week in April (2017) I emailed the GM and upon no reply called the sore. The GM from last year, no longer worked for Enterprise. The NEW GM requested I forward the emails, (which I did) and then said Enterprise WOULD honor the 3-day rental. As I need a weekly rental, he said he’d get me a quite by the end of the week. This was on a Monday. By Monday the following week, I contacted him again, about  the rental quote.

“Sorry.  I had a death in the family last week.  I didn’t forget about you and I will make a reservation ASAP.”

I replied that day,

Oh no! I’m terribly sorry to hear that. Condolences to you and yours. Its not that I’m in any rush… the trip isn’t until 06/10/17, but I just like to try and get everything arranged so I know what’s done and needs to be done before leaving. Its only to Daytona, but I’ll still pack and treat this as if heading cross country. LOL

Again, sorry about your loss. Always hard saying goodbye to loved ones.”

This exchange happened May 8th. I NEVER heard another word from this GM.

On May 31ar I opened up a direct message dialogue with Enterprise Twitter online. I was assured they cared and someone would get in touch with me.

*Thumbs Up for the people running the Enterprise Twitter Acct!*

It is now June 4th. Yes, only 4 days, but if anyone had truly reviewed the timeline, I would suspect someone would have been in-touch by now.

Budget only comes in a tiny bit higher, but thus far, has been a hassle free experience.

IF and WHEN Enterprise Rental Car contacts me, I’ll UPDATE.

Until then… Be Wary!

A farewell dinner WITH pics!

Doing a quick dinner posting. Last night we had a farewell meal with my niece and her family. Their heading back up to Oklahoma later this month.

Remember, there are nine people in this house. NINE!

So, any event is a huge undertaking in getting everything ready. Between tidying bathrooms, sweeping, carpets etc, the cooking must be something I know I can control the time of. Last night I made the below for the 1st time and it was SUPER easy! Because it was a little here and a little there, I was able to clean in-between the prep work and NOT run around like crazy. Okay, so maybe there was a tad of crazy but I was also finishing up the baby blanket and matching hat.

The meal;

Cheesy Potato & Ham Bake w/ Side Salad, Homemade Bread and Lemon Tarts for dessert.

If anyone is interested in the easy recipes, just comment so and I’ll edit this to include them. For now, I’ve got to get back to my posts for an upcoming June class on queries.

Happy Eating & Happy Writing!

Rant, Recipe & Special Invite

For all of you who work from home, dontcha hate all the “Oh, you don’t work?” I feel your pain!

Let me tell you. While I may NOT have a job outside the home. A job which actually pays me FAIR wages… I work.

In an underpaid, underappreciated position that has no start time, nor stop time.

7:15 wake up get coffee, turn brain on.

7:30 wake up wee man for school.

7:45 breakfast for wee man.

8:10 off to school for wee man.

8:40- prep for dinner. (ie; pull whatever from freezer and make sure I have all needed items)

MORE COFFEE

9:00 clean kitchen (unload dishwasher-reload if needed, wipe  counters, etc.

9:30 start laundry (typically I do 2-3 loads a day)

10: 00  backwash pool/check filters

MORE COFFEE

10:30 open up word get as much writing done as possible.

12:00 swap loads of laundry over and hand/fold dry load

1:00 check bathrooms and clean if necessary

1:30 swap laundry again (fold/hang new load)

MORE COFFEE

2:00 back to writing.

3:00 get wee man

3:30 prep for dinner. (get meat in oven or potatoes skinned, etc.

4:00 start dinner.

5:00/5:30 dinner time.

6:00/6:30 begin after dinner clean-up and swap last laundry load

7:30 pack lunches

8:00 back to writing.

Now, in the midst of the above there is reviewing the bills, giving out the kids chores (making sure they get done) any sewing or hemming or like now, making a baby blanket, is done in-between.

Have I mentioned I repaired our oven a few weeks ago? As in replaced both elements? Yep, did. Also, I redid all out trim, sanding, staining and sealing.

So while I may not have the “PAID” job… I work.

I’m not complaining per say, because my day IS filled with things I love.

Wee Man and Wee Miss, writing and cooking.  Speaking of…

RECIPE!

Image may contain: food and indoor

Cheesesteak Bake

(3-5) Pounds ground beef

Either a bag of frozen onions and peppers or chopped fresh.

A pkg of sliced Provolone (24 slices)

Mushrooms. (Can be canned or sliced fresh)

4 Cans of Biscuits

Worcestershire Sauce (am I the only one who can NEVER spell that word without the help from spell check?)

Brown ground beef (use potato masher to keep meat nice and crumbly as it cooks) with onions, peppers and mushrooms, if fresh. (if canned add when done) Add a few shakes of Worcestershire as you cook. When done, drain well.

Add more Worcestershire to the cooked meat (a few shakes should work fine) and mushrooms,  mix well.

In large casserole pan, spray bottom with non-stick spray. Using hands, flatten biscuits to create a solid biscuit bottom. It took me one can plus 2 extra from the 2nd can.  Add 1/2 the meat mixture evenly over top. Top with provolone. Next, using remaining biscuit break into small pieces and evenly scatter on top.

Repeat all in 2nd casserole pan.

Bake about 15-25 minutes until you see biscuits browned and everything is nice and bubble.

Serve with a nice salad and BOOM, a fun, tasty, easy and affordable dinner!

In large bowl, mix above ingredients well and cover with plastic wrap. Let stand 3 hours.

Crock Pot Bread Video

Hubby already said he loved the texture so much that he bet, added sugar, cinnamon and raisins added for cinnamon bread would be tasty too! Me? As is or maybe some honey butter.

You are NOT alone…

You are NOT alone!

For anyone dealing with a loved one/friend battling mental illness, you are NOT alone. It sucks for those battling and it sucks for those dealing with.

The laws are wonky and help no one.

They protect no one.

Yes, life with, can be a struggle. You are not alone.

My SIL is paranoid schizophrenic and a close family like friend is bi-polar. Both can be the sweetest people on the plant and BOTH can go violent in the blink of an eye.

My SIL is currently institutionalized and her husband fears they are being evicted due to her outbursts. She is in misery to what her mind has created and her meds are not working as they used to. Whether this is due to constant changes in them OR menopause or age, we don’t know. We DO know this… everyone is at stalemate.

You see the state doesn’t want to keep her unless she’s a direct threat. Family can’t deal because often she is. Her husband has issues too, not as extreme, but he can only handle him.

STALEMATE.

The close friend I mentioned, is our foster nephews mom. She’s never had it easy either. In fact, most of the time she’s okay.    She doesn’t take her pills because she can’t afford the medical care, and as she’s essentially homeless, has no address to give for attempting state assistence.

STALEMATE.

My son, though not diagnosed is somewhere on the autism/aspbergers spectrum. He was ESE all through school, pulled out of high-school at their recommendation as they saw his need for more help. He’s now 24 and continues to struggle to make a life, without a label. Sadly, his OCD and other issues make life very hard. He may hear a whisper and jumps to assumptions people are talking about him. Yes, we understand he may paranoid tendencies too. He lives at home and we emotionally and financially support him too. But we worry about his future. What happens when we are no longer here?

STALEMATE.

So to any and all of you out there, going through the same struggles…

You are not alone.

There are hotlines in every home state, who have people there to just listen. Don’t hesitate to call. Don’t think you need to be worried about what anyone may “think.”

Sadly we’re going through something very common now, so you are NOT ALONE.

An Easter Treat! FREE for a limited time

An Accidental Basket by [Romans, Bobbi]

Through THIS EASTER weekend ONLY…. grab up my Easter Romance, “An Accidental Basket” for FREE!!!

Read the reviews-

5- Stars From R. Kurtz “Awesome!! She has lost everything & has given up on life. This book is a funny story about a woman learning to live again & the people that teach that it’s ok to laugh & love again.”

I would strongly suggest this book. It teaches about life choices & that everyone deserves to be happy.

5-Stars from P.Phan  “Author Bobbi Romans had me crying within the first couple pages of An Accidental Basket, which happens to be my first book I’ve read of hers. The opening scene was profound, well-written and just tugged at my heart. She did not just make me cry, she also managed to make me laugh throughout the rest of the book as Calyssa and Danny’s romance was wrought with interruptions when things got passionate between them. They encountered some funny moments that had me chuckling and smiling. I really enjoyed scenes where Minnie appeared and I hope she gets her own story. I am so glad I got a chance to read this author’s work.”

ALSO…

For all you parents out there don’t forget to PLANT those JellyBeans tonight so that “Lollipops” sprout up tomorrow (Easter) morning!

Sweet Treat for Cheap Peeps! Cracker Candy!

CRACKER CANDY!!!

If you like Toffee Bars, such as Heath, Skor etc, you will LOVE Cracker Candy! I made my 1st batch tonight!

Not my recipe, but rather one I’d heard about and googled the recipe for.

(Pic is mine

Image may contain: food

Easy, cheap and OH SO GOOD!

Ingredients:

(1) Sleeve Saltine Crackers

(1/2) Bag of Chocolate Chips

(1/2) Cup of Chopped Nuts *Optional*

1 Stick of REAL Butter

1 Cup of Firmly Packed Brown Sugar

Line cookie sheet with tin foil. Lightly grease. Line sheet with crackers. In medium pot melt one stick of REAL butter and add one cup FIRMLY packed brown sugar and cook over medium heat 3-5 minutes until it comes to a nice thick bubbly like sauce.

Preheat oven to 400

Pour butter/brown sugar mixture over crackers and using a spatula, gently spread evenly. Put in oven for 5 minutes. Remove and let stand 5 minutes. Sprinkle some chocolate chips over the top and let stand another 5 minutes.

Once melted using spatula, gently spread the chips to even coating over crackers.

(Drop an F-Bomb here or there as you do this as the chocolate sticks to the spatula. Or be wise and butter the spatula lightly for the spreading.)

Top with chopped nuts if desired and place in fridge for chocolate to refirm.

Once firmed, use the edges of the tin foil to lift up the crackers and break into pieces. Keep in airtight container in refrigerator.

If you have sweet eaters, hide candy in prune container or Raisin Bran box because this gets GOBBLED UP!!!

Bobbi Romans- Romance Author and Mom always on the prowl for inexpensive eats!
